YES I CAN! Gippsland ChoirWe are excited to announce the new YES I CAN! Gippsland Choir in the Latrobe Valley, established in partnership between CoAbility Gippsland and Play It Forward, founded by Dr Jonathon Welch AM. This project aims to establish an ongoing choral group for plan or self managed NDIS participants residing in the Gippsland region by providing a safe place where they can express themselves through music to help build confidence, skills, resilience and friendships. YES WE CAN! is an inclusive creative arts project for people of all abilities promoting harmony, connection and collaboration within the Latrobe Valley community through the joy of music and singing together. It involves a series of exciting workshops led by guest conductors, Dr Jonathon Welch AM and Patrick Burns, involving choirs and singers of all ages, gender, backgrounds and abilities, culminating in a celebration concert on Sunday 29th March at Moe Town Hall. The concert will introduce the YES I CAN! Gippsland Choir, established by Dr Jonathon Welch AM through a partnership with CoAbility Gippsland and Play It Forward, in their debut performance in the Latrobe Valley, along with many other featured artists. Melbourne International Singers Festival has an even bigger and more diverse program over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, 3 – 8 June 2020. MISF 2020 IS THE YEAR OF 'HOME'As the world continues to face many challenges, MISF is excited to explore the theme of 'HOME' through voice and song for the first time in 2020. THREE WORLD PREMIERESMISF has always had a commitment to premiering new Australian works, and 2020 will see the world premiere of three Australian works that explore our theme of 'HOME' by the multi-award-winning Choir of Hard Knocks, a new choral work for children's choir by Mark Puddy and an exciting newly commissioned massed choral work by Play It Forward, ECOTORIO, in addition to the Australian premiere of Kirby Shaw's brand new work, Turn the World Around, recently premiered at Carnegie Hall, New York.
